A good campus ambassador job description says five things in plain words: what the student will do each week, how many hours it takes, what they will get, who can apply and how to apply. Below is a full template you can paste into a form, a college page post or a student platform listing, followed by notes on what to change for your brand.
If you are building a campus ambassador program from scratch, this is the document students will see first. Make it specific, because students compare listings and avoid vague ones. For the surrounding steps, see how to start a campus ambassador program; for who to pick once applications arrive, see campus ambassador selection criteria.
The template
Copy everything between the lines and replace the square brackets.
[Brand name] Campus Ambassador, [College name], [City]
About [Brand name]
[Two sentences: what the product does and why students would care. Name one real feature a student uses.]
The role
You will be [Brand name]’s representative at [College name] for [one semester / one academic year]. You will run small, clearly defined missions in your own circles: your class, hostel, societies and friends. You are not a salesperson and you will not be asked to spam anyone. You are asked to tell people honestly about something you think is useful, and to show us what happened.
What you will do each week
- Receive one to three missions every Monday in the program WhatsApp group and sheet
- Complete them by Friday, with proof such as a screenshot, a form entry or a redemption code
- Join a short call with your city lead on Saturday [or: weekly check-in]
- Share honest feedback from students about the product
- Follow the content and disclosure rules (paid or gifted posts must carry #ad or #collab)
Example missions
- Introduce [Brand name] in two class or hostel groups with the offer link
- Help five classmates sign up with your personal code
- Run a 30-minute table at a society event or in the canteen (with college permission)
- Create one story or reel in your own words
- Collect three honest opinions after people try the product
Time
Usually 3 to 6 hours a week, more around launches and fests. We reduce or pause missions during exams.
What you get
- [₹X per verified mission] paid on [fixed date] every month
- [A monthly top-ambassador reward / bonus tier]
- [Merchandise kit]
- Certificate of participation on completion, and a letter of recommendation for top performers
- Mentoring from your city lead, and the chance to move up to senior ambassador or city lead
- Priority for paid creator and event work with [Brand name] and our agency partners
There is no fee to join and no target that you have to buy to meet.
Who can apply

- [Year of study: all years welcome / first year to third year]
- Active in at least one group: a society, hostel, class, club, sports team or college page
- Able to commit 3 to 6 hours a week [from date to date]
- A smartphone, WhatsApp, and Instagram [if content missions apply]
- Comfortable following disclosure and conduct rules

Notes on what to change
The role paragraph
Keep “you are not a salesperson”. It is true if you design it that way, and it is what makes serious students apply. If your program is heavily sales-led, say that instead and pay accordingly; do not hide it.
Hours
Be honest. If your missions take eight hours in launch week, say that. Students decide on time first and money second, and a mismatch is the main reason ambassadors quit. Programs we run usually fall between 3 and 6 hours a week.
Rewards
State what you pay, how, and when. Do not write “attractive stipend”. If you cannot put a figure, put the structure: base plus per-mission plus top-performer pool, with the payout date. The reasoning behind the mix is in campus ambassador rewards and incentives. Budget the lines using campus ambassador program cost in India.
Eligibility
The temptation is to add many conditions: minimum followers, minimum marks, a club position. Each one removes good candidates. Keep three tests: enrolled, active in a circle, available. Add a follower minimum only for content-only roles.
Certificate and recommendation
Offer a certificate only if you will issue it. Offer a letter of recommendation only for a defined group, such as the top ambassadors in each cluster. A promise you do not keep is a review waiting to happen.
Variants for different roles
| Role | Change in the template |
|---|---|
| City lead | Add: manage 3 to 5 colleges, weekly calls, visits, onboarding new ambassadors. Eligibility: ran a society, event or fest team, or a recent graduate. Higher reward, outcome-linked |
| Campus lead | Add: coordinate 2 to 5 ambassadors on one campus, split circles, roll up mission proof |
| Sampling ambassador | Add: be present on campus at set times, handle product, capture feedback, follow safety rules |
| Content ambassador | Add: create two to four pieces a month, follow the brief, usage rights, approval step, disclosure labels |
| Event ambassador | Add: help with permissions, setup, footfall counts, photos |
For an explanation of how these roles connect, see campus ambassador program structure.
Where to post it
Put the same text in a Google Form and in the posts on each channel: college pages, society and hostel group chats, and student platforms such as Unstop and Internshala. Add a one-line summary at the top of every post and a short regional-language line for tier-2 and tier-3 campuses. The channels and funnel are in how to recruit campus ambassadors.
A worked example (hypothetical)
For example, a food-delivery app hiring ambassadors for hostel campuses in Hyderabad fills the brackets like this: role of “hostel ambassador”, missions focused on first orders with a campus code, a Saturday check-in, a pay line stating the per-mission amount and the 5th-of-the-month payout date, eligibility restricted to hostel residents, and a trial mission of getting five hostel mates to place a first order. It then removes the content-creation bullet, since the goal is orders and not posts. The edits make the listing sharper, not longer.
Legal and safety notes
This template is not a contract. Agree terms of payment, conduct, content rights and data handling in a short written agreement, and do not ask students under 18 to take on paid promotion without a guardian’s consent. Make sure every sponsored post follows ASCI’s guidelines for influencer advertising, which require clear disclosure such as #ad or #collab. Our campus marketing agency team can help with agreements; for a ready network, see our campus ambassador programs service, or write via contact.
Questions people ask
What should a campus ambassador job description include?
The brand, the role, weekly missions, hours, rewards, eligibility and how to apply. Add a line that there is no fee, and state when payouts happen. Specific details such as sample missions raise applications from serious students.
What are the responsibilities of a campus ambassador?
Running small missions in their own circles: sharing offers in groups, helping classmates sign up, running a table at an event, creating one piece of content, collecting honest feedback and reporting with proof. They follow disclosure and conduct rules.
How many hours does a campus ambassador work?
Usually 3 to 6 hours a week, more around launches and fests. A good program reduces the load during exams and states the expected hours in the description before students apply.
Should the job description mention pay?
Yes. Say what the base, per-mission and bonus rewards are, and the payout date. Students are cautious about vague listings and tend to apply to the ones that are clear.
Can I use this template for any brand?
Yes, change the brand description, missions, rewards and eligibility. Remove content bullets if your goal is installs or sampling, and add safety rules for product handling if you run a sampling program.
Is a campus ambassador role an internship?
Usually not. It is a few hours a week of defined missions with rewards, not a supervised internship with a stipend and learning plan. Do not call it an internship unless it meets that structure.
Where should I post a campus ambassador job description?
On college pages, society and hostel groups, and student platforms such as Unstop and Internshala, plus your own site. Use the same text everywhere and add the college name for each post.
